Gear calculator

Would it be possible to implement a gear cutting function, using the W axis with a rotary table? Enter the blank diameter and the number of desired teeth, and have the DRO give the rotational positiion of each tooth? As in: Cut a tooth, hit a "Next" button, crank the rotary table to "0" on the readout, make the cut, an so on?

This would be very useful. I have a dividing head without the indexing plates and i was thinking of mounting a rotary encoder onto it. I was just going to change the w axis cpi value to get the correct number of divisions but it would be much better if the function was built in.
