USB pinout needed

Question 
I have a set of AccuRemote scales and a iGaging adapter the problem is (1) I don't know much about electronics and (2) when I cut and stripped the micro USB cables the color of the wires do not match any code I have been able to find. I have (pin 1) Red, (pin 2) White, (pin 3) Blue, (pin 4) Brown, and (pin 5) Black. That's about where my knowledge of this stuff ends. I can make a couple of assumptions, and I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think (pin 1) Red goes to VCC and (pin 5) Black goes to ground on the adapter. That said I cannot find anything that says what the other pins should go to on the adapter. The pinouts I have seen say pin 2 is Data-, pin 3 is Data+ and pin 4 is ID so which ones go to Data and clock on the adapter?

Btw, Since there doesn't appear to be a standard for what color wire does what in a USB cable I'm hoping this will lead to a chart that other users can benefit from.

The cables iGaing uses are all over the map, so there is no reliable way to use color coding anymore. You can determine pin functions using a simple multi meter fairly easily. There are test points in the reading head;  you can check continuity between them and the exposed wires. That will tell you which wire is which.

Yeah, that's why I was hoping to gather information on what pin in the USB plug goes to what connection on the adapter and bypass the wire color issue all together. Most of the pinouts I have seen associate the pin with a color which is useless information when they don't make the cables to a standard and/or say things like ID, Data- and Data+ not Clock or Data as on the adapter. When I get the information I'm after I'll post it so hopefully it will help others that run into the same issue in the future.

I'll open up the read head this evening and see if I can figure it out from the test points. Hopefully they are labeled in a way that will allow me to match them up.

It works Big Grin 

So the connections between the AccuRemote read head that use Micro USB cables  and the iGaging adapter regardless of wire color are as follows.

Micro USB Pin 1 is power VDC and connects the Vcc terminal on the adapter to VDD on the read head.
Micro USB Pin 2 is Data- and connects the Clock terminal on the adapter to SSY on the read head.
Micro USB Pin 3 is Data+ and connects the Data terminal on the adapter to Data on the read head.
Micro USB Pin 4 is ID and is not used.
Micro USB Pin 5 is Ground and connects the Ground terminal on the adapter to Ground on the read.

I have a scale that uses Mini USB too so I'll probably post that up when I have time.

Thank you for posting this. I ordered a several scales from different sources (iGaging and non-branded) and will see if they use the same pinout as well.
