Pairing Failure
#1
I am having major problems pairing my tablet with the board. I bought the already assembled and configured option for igaging digimax scales. It appears as available in the bluetooth menu of my tablet. But instead of asking for a password it tries to pair automatically but fails every time due to "Couldn't pair with HC-05 because of incorrect pin or pass key". I looked up the tablet operating instructions and it says that it only asks for a password when the app is locked. TouchDRO does not show up as locked so it tries to pair automatically. I have contacted the manufacturer and they say the fault is a compatability issue with the app. I am using a PENDO 7 tablet with android 5.1.1 operating system. Does anyone know if there is a firmware update or something else to resolve this problem.

Ray,
The problem is very likely with the tablet's OS. Bluetooth pairing happens outside of the app (TouchDRO) at the system level. I'm not familiar with Pendo tablets, but from a brief search it looks like they are generic low-cost tablets, so it's hard to know what they did to the Android OS. Some leave it bone-stock; some rip it open and replace drivers, etc.
Somewhere on the BlueTooth screen there should be a way to "forget" a device (if for some reason your tablet thinks that has already been paired with the BT transceiver). There might also be a way to tell the tablet to require the password.
Also, if you have access to any other Android or iOS device, you can try pairing the board with that. Even if you don't install TouchDRO you should still be able to pair it (and see the blue LED blinking pattern change).

Thanks Yuriy. All is good now. I lost patience with the Pendo tablet and bought another generic tablet. This time I took the board with me to the store and paired it with the tablet before I bought it. It was android 6 device and paired perfectly so I bought it home and have set it up. After calibration it looks good. Readouts stable with machine running and indicated very accurate. Looking forward to using it. Thanks for your help along this journey. Cheers Ray
