Coolant Causing Jumping Numbers
#1
I was testing out using Kool Mist as a coolant and after using it on some test cuts found one of my AccuRemote scales numbers running away.  I'm assuming this was the cause.   Question:  do you think my scale is junk or will it work when it drys out.   I haven't pulled it and disassembled it yet but will tonight.  I have already put a capacitor in the scale reader which took care of all my other jumping number issues.  When I was testing I didn't think I flooded the scale reader but some may have got in contact with it.

It's unlikely that you damaged the scale permanently, but you might need to take it apart, soak it in alcohol and let dry before use.
That said, what setup are you using for Kool Mist? I'm about to start building a "fogless" mister and am curious what other people use. What ratio do you use for your emulsion? Do you see rust?

Might be seeing similar behavior.  Just when everything was working great, my x axis (on the carriage) started to behave strangely.  I was turning some stainless so of course using coolant (manual water soluble oil, not mist).  I stopped the feed and the numbers just kept advancing and suddenly jumped inches forward.  Since I had caps installed and had the scales isolated with the tape trick I thought maybe it came loose.  However further inspection revealed the digimag housing was very wet as well as the coolant running through to the mounts.  Now I need to make some shielding on this area to keep this dry.   If I didn't have the the Igaging board all installed and otherwise  working I'd be looking at some glass scales right now.......
