Touch probe
I have a dro with 4 axis on a Bridgeport. I got a touch probe from eBay. It seems to be working backwards. When the switches break the leds go from green to red. Then turning the other direction when the switches make. It sends a signal to the dro. This might be the way it works I am not sure. 
don't know if you found an answer to this, but in other systems I've setup (like CNC end stops), I prefer to wire it this way. Positive voltage signal for switch not activated, 0 or open for switch activated. That way, it shows as activated if there's a broken wire, and it prevents a crash because you can easily see something is not right
