Buying from Yuriy web page - antonio.olivares - 06-21-2016 Hello everyone, ![]() anyone knows the e-mail of Yuriy? I need to know if he can sell me a board with express shipping also the quadrature pc board will work with this scales?: ![]() http://www.sra-measurement.com/magnetic-linear-encoder-reading-head-5-micron-resolution.html, thanks! RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - graemejw - 06-22-2016 Hi, can't help with the email address but it might be worth posting your question on the google+ board in case Yuriy is not actively monitoring this forum yet. Those mag read heads will work with the quadrature board. I'm using the same ones supplied by machinedro in the UK along with glass scales with my quadrature board. RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - antonio.olivares - 06-22-2016 thank you graemejw!! I'll try to post a message for him on google+ have you ever tried to use USB communication with the board? RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - graemejw - 06-23-2016 Hi Antonio, the quadrature board that Yuriy supplies doesn't have usb capability, only bluetooth. I'm pairing it with an Amazon Kindle fire HD which has an N2A custom ROM flashed with android Kitkat and works well cheers Graeme RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - Yuriy - 06-23-2016 (06-23-2016, 09:18 AM)graemejw Wrote: Hi Antonio, Graeme, It's very easy to add UART-to-USB adapter though. The Tx/Rx pins are broken out, and the BT module can be disabled by de-soldering a pull-up resistor. (just for future reference) Regards Yuriy RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - Retromachinist - 09-05-2016 Hi Yuriy! i am also interested in using the Quadrature Board with a USB Cable connection instead of BT, in context of avoiding disconnection issues and preventing interferences. So would it be possible to just add a UART to USB adapter, and plug it to a tablet? Or would it be required to program the Board and/or the app differently? I must say that i may be ok with soldering, but i know near nothing about electronics or programming... Best regards and keep up the amazing stuff! On iGaging and Quadrature versions of the board Tx and Rx pins are broken out to the programming header. The BT modules has an "enable" resistor soldered in that can be removed to disable it. The firmware doesn't care what UART-to-XXX adapter it's sending the data to. That said, unless your tablet doesn't have BlueTooth, there is no good reason to use USB. The "disconnect issue" happens on a small number of tablets that have a bug in the BT stack. By that I mean the issue where if the connection is dropped on the transmitter end, the tablet fails to reconnect until BT is disabled and re-enabled. The "disconnect issue" where the tablet disconnects while the "Settings" screen is active is a feature: I wrote the code to drop the connection when readout is not used; normally the app will re-connect immediately after returning to the main screen. If that is not happening, I would like to know the details so I can debug it. When things go wrong with USB (and they go wrong a lot more often because the library is much closer to the "metal") the whole tablet crashes and restarts. Moreover, USB has more interference problems than BT due to the extra ground loop or two. Regards Yuriy RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - Retromachinist - 09-07-2016 Hi Yuriy, thank you for the detailed explanation. That all makes sense to me. So i guess the best thing to do is to stick to BT. Regards, Retromachinist RE: Buying from Yuriy web page - ParCan - 09-19-2016 Hi Yuriy. Got my board kit today delivered to the UK. Customs Man stung me for duty and the handling fees. Oh Well. It's about 1/2 assembled. Wondering why you don't supply Sockets for the LM339's. For a very small cost it would make assembly easier for most and maybe less heat damaged chips... Is that not the case? It didn't dawn on me to socket the comparators, to be honest. The only reason I socket the chip is so it's easy to take it out and reprogram if needed. Regards Yuriy |
